brain… instead must be kept warmed up and working by constantly varied input, if it is to function effectively… given the tremendous emotional suspect ability of man, such input cannot be too intense, varied disturbing… because then emotional collapse and a complete breakdown pf the the though process would ensue.
Thus a very careful cultural control of frightening, enraging stimuli… is necessary to prevent constant oscillation between the extremes of passion.
Institutionalized regulations against the open display of corpses… outside funerals… protect against fears aroused by death
