The civil rights movement, which worked to free black people from slavery and successfully did so, and all the fine work done by anti-racism campaign as black and white over generations, designed to liberate black people and enable them to speak their mind, to participate fully in institutions of society, to enable them to take full part in civic life, to live love and work exactly as they please, - all of this things are designed to do, in American society at least, one thing above else, and it was to raise the black voice up, to the equal standing with all of his white counterparts, it was to give him equal standing in democracy, to give him the equal standing in how the country is run, the country that didn&#39;t do right by him, now is offering him a place and offering him restitution. You are taking away that right, which had been hard fought and hard won, by denying me to have my own opinions because of my skin color, you are assuming, because of my skin color, that I must have certain points of view, that I must agree with you, - that is the worst kind of racism, it is the kind of racism that reduces black people to a predictable set of ideas, it is the kind of racism that thinks of this group of people "less then" not "more than", that robs off their moral intellectual <authenticity>, it is the kind of racism that divides people instead of uniting them, and if you genuinely believe in the things that you are saying, if you genuinely believe that races are equal, if you genuinely believe that we ought to strive to society in which all voices are heard, hear mine.
